Hot on the heels of the release of the Radeon RX 580 and RX 570 launched earlier this week, AMD have released a new Polaris 12 GPU, the Radeon RX 550. It is a sub-$100 entry level GPU, targeted at those who want an inexpensive, low profile, low power and low performance component for mini desktop PCs or a minor upgrade on integrated GPUs. It has just 8 compute units, a boost clock of 1183 MHz and comes with either 2 or 4 Gb of GDDR5 memory capable of delivering up to 112 GB/s bandwidth. As expected from a discrete GPU, the RX 550 wipes the floor with Intel’s current best desktop iGPU (HD 630 (Kaby Lake). The RX 550 is expected to be around 70% as fast as the only $20 dearer RX 560 (the successor to the RX 460 to be released next month), however this should be sufficient for an okay gaming experience for many games on non-demanding settings. It is anticipated, that AMD will tailor the form of the 550 more towards the laptop market as the year progresses. [Apr '17 GPUPro]

Terrible average bench

The AMD RX 550 averaged 86.1% lower than the peak scores attained by the group leaders. This isn't a great result which indicates that there are much faster alternatives on the comparison list.

Strengths

Avg. Locally-deformable PRT (Bat) 49.2fps
Avg. NBody particle system (Galaxy) 46.8fps

Excellent consistency

The range of scores (95th - 5th percentile) for the AMD RX 550 is just 2.56%. This is an extremely narrow range which indicates that the AMD RX 550 performs superbly consistently under varying real world conditions.

Weaknesses

Avg. High dynamic range lighting (Teapot) 75.2fps
Avg. Parallax occlusion mapping (Stones) 66.7fps

For gaming you're better off running integrated Vega 8/11 and grabbing a better GPU in the future or trying to buy an used RX 570 or a 1650 if a low profile build. Only recommended as a display card and only if it's cheaper than the GT 1030 where you live.

very decent GPU i have, runs every game, not on maximum settings, but im 100% sure it can run every game in low settings

Power consumption of less than 50 watts in the game and 5 watts during desktop activity or video playback. There are semi-passive versions like Sapphire to the full advantage of zero noise and heat. It makes most of the 1080p e-sports games playable with few sacrifices even in small-form pc. Performance similar to the Ryzen 2400g Vega 11 but definitely with less frame drops.

It is currently the best budget Graphics card for lower-end eSports games such as Cs-Go and League of Legends. Despite this, it still runs quite well on heavier games like PUBG, as a user of this graphics card I have reached up to 60 fps (with the lowest settings and a really strong processor that is) in PUBG.

Performed marginally better than GT 1030 GDDR5 (not that scammy DDR4 version which is much weaker than you thought!) while consuming 20W more than GT 1030. This GPU isn't worth buying a little due to option to use AMD Ryzen APU such as Ryzen 3 2200G instead of this and slightly worse power consumption (plus slightly higher build cost).

I got for about $70 at Best Buy and it's fantastic for what I got.

OC editions can clock up to 1400Mhz and higher with no side effects making this a far better budget contender than the specs suggest.
